Whilst the effects of these injectables typically last for 3-6 months, this isn’t the same for everyone. Why?

  • Skin condition – effects tend to last longer in healthy and hydrated skin with little sun damage.
  • People with less subcutaneous fat and a thinner dermis have less support to the overlying muscle. Without adequate support, the overlying muscle can move more easily and wrinkles and lines develop more rapidly.
  • Some people have stronger muscles than others and even more active muscle fibres.  In these people, effects tend to wear off faster.
  • Excessive exercise, excessive heat (saunas and steam rooms), and certain illnesses, medications and supplements may shorten the longevity of these injectables.
  • High levels of stress can have an impact too, which was something we saw during Covid when a decreased duration of effect was documented worldwide.

Remember, no two individuals are the same. We all have different underlying bone structures, skin types, muscles, genetics, and even lifestyles.  All of these factors play a role in how long the effects of your muscle relaxing injections last.
